The prompt for this year’s Redux Studio Artist Exhibition…
Considering the community structure and interconnectivity of working out of Redux, as well as the dynamic nature of being a part of the greater creative community in Charleston, how is your work influenced by these immediate surroundings? How are elements of community, Charleston, and Redux portrayed in your work?
my response:
To celebrate this sense of community and my evolution as an artist, I would like to create a painting that integrates so many pieces of my life, both figuratively and literally, and also represents exactly where I am in my painting evolution. I would like to create a diptych of a map that shows the places (and people) that I frequent the most in the Charleston area, a continuation in my lowcountry aerial explorations, but with a more personal spin.
